A sweet little lady from our church is celebrating her 90th birthday in December.  We had her a surprise birthday cake tonight at our Christmas get together.

I passed through the dining room and saw our basket of gifts, all wrapped in blue, waiting to be taken to our church's Christmas supper tomorrow night.  I thought how pretty they looked just sitting there on the floor in the corner and grabbed my camera.

Homemade Blue Berry Cream Cheese Spread

DH went on a camping trip and came home telling me about this spread.  I was amazed at how easy it was to make.  You just allow a box of cream cheese to come to room temperature then place the cream cheese and 1 can of blueberry pie filling in the bowl of a stand mixer and mix until well blended.... that's it.  We have tried mixed berry pie filling too.  Next time I think I will try strawberry pie filling.  If you had fresh fruit instead I am sure you could make your own pie filling then add it to the cream cheese.

# 328 of 365 for Saturday, November 24, 2012

Well my photo project today was to work on getting a self portrait for my avatar.  I like to change it about once a year, and usually do so near my birthday.  This time I wanted my camera in the picture but if I put the camera up as though I were shooting with it I kept missing the focus..... it would land on the camera and not me... so this is what I ended up with.

I love this old log barn.  It sits at the bottom of some rolling hills near the base of a mountain.  I have no idea how old it is, I know it has been there as long as I can remember.  I love the old red tractor in it.

Another Smile!

#324 of 365 for November 20, 2012

I am so excited!  I got shots of my oldest son's family with my grandaughter smiling!  Yay me!!  Now I know that doesn't sound like an amazing feat  to you, but if you just knew this sweet little lady you would realize how awesome this is.  She does not smile for pictures.... ever.  She just looks at me really serious if I am  lucky :)  If not, then she turns her head or on occasion has squinched her eyes shut.  She isn't uncooperative in any other way except for the camera thing.  I do have to confess I owe the success of this shoot to my sweet DH for acting in such a way that she could not help but erupt in laughter  (Thank You Sweetie).

Shine On Me Sunshine!

I loved how the setting sun was illuminating parts of this tree.  It teminded me of a line from an old, old, old, very old song, that was popular when I was about 6 years old.  I haven't heard it in forever so I had to go look up the lyrics to see what the song was about.

Shine on me sunshine

walk with me world

It's a skippity do da day

I'm the happiest girl in the whole USA

I loved this old barn.   Such character I see here.  It's paint is faded and almost gone, many shingles are missing, the others are rough and loose,  the tin  on the roof has been blown loose and edges are peeling upward, boards are missing and askew, it seems to forgotten.

#308 of 365 for November 4, 2012

Oh these were so yummy!  I had an old recipe for Fresh Apple Cake, and I kept thinking it would make great muffins, so I finally tried it.

Recipe
2 cups sugar               1 tsp soda
2 eggs                         1tsp salt
1 cup salad oil            1tsp cinnamon
2 1/2 cup plain flour   3 cups finely diced apples
2 tsp baking powder   1 pkg butterscotch morsels
1 cup nuts (chopped)

Mix dry ingredients set aside
Mix sugar, eggs, and oil in large mixing bowl then add in dry mixture from above
Mix well, batter will be thick
Add apples and nuts and mix well again
Place liners in cup cake pan and fill a little over half full
Sprinkle butterscotch morsels on top of each cupcake liner of batter. (Spread evenly and use whole bag of morsels)

Bake in preheated oven at 350 for about 30 mins.

For cake bake in 9x13 pan for 1 hour.
Muffins and cake will be very brown but if you go too long the butterscotch morsels will burn a bit.

Most things are brown here in Michigan now, but if you really look you can still find a little color hanging on.

Well my flowers are still living outside but they are not blooming out.... just little buds mostly. I brought a few more in and added to my boquet :) I can hardly believe that in Michigan I still have pretty flowers from outside on November 1st.
