I was out shooting flowers early in the morning before the dew dried off and spotted this guy. He was hiding between the layers of petals! He was very tiny.... much smaller than a honey bee. Anybody know what it is?

Most of the vegetable in my garden are gone or nearly gone, as is the way of autumn. But my peppers are still producing rapidly. I have havested many peppers from them during the summer but still they produce on. Each plant is filled with beautiful, colorful, peppers, ranging from light green to yellow to red. I wish I had kept up with how much these plants produced this summer.

Look what posed for me today! A beautiful butterfly! I see very few butterflies where I live here in Michigan..... not sure but suspect maybe all the pesticides from farming limit them.... I was thrilled to see this beauty enjoying my zinnias and he/she even seemed to enjoy my bean vines.

I shot a fly!
Wow can you believe there are only 100 days left in this year! It seems 2013 had gone flying by in a whir!! Since I try to take a picture every day during the year I am constantly reminded of how fast the days are whizzing past.
Today, I went out to shoot the zinnias in my garden and ended up shooting a fly! It is quiet cool here in Michigan... 54 right now and I think it might be too cold for him to fly away.
I clicked off 11 shots of him as the wind swayed the flower back and forth and I tried desperately to focus on him...... I managed only 1 fairly sharp shot and it was the eighth one! A good reminder to me to try, try and try again.... even if the wind is blowing all around me and it takes 8 times to succeed :)

I am second shooting a wedding today (Friday) at this church. I was getting a quick outside shot, while waiting for everyone to arrive. The day was all gray and heavy overcast...... but then all of a sudden the pretty sunshipe peeked thru and just lit up the church! The difference in the shots was quiet amazing....they were taken just 60 seconds apart... one with a little sun, and the one below without the sun :) I did tone down the colors in the one above just a bit.

Another type of zinnia..... one thing I've noticed though is this fuscia color seems to be dominant, I always have more of this color. Sometimes when I save said I try to put very few of this color in since they are more common.

A pretty zinnia from my garden. I love planting these flowers, I get such a variety of shapes and colors and butterflies love them. I save the seed from year to year so they are pretty much free except the first time you plant them.

I had such a busy day today; cleaned the house upstairs, then cleaned the carpet down in the basement. We made time for a 12.7 mile bike ride late this evening. It was fun but quiet cool. I had to wear a jacket the whole trip. I only shot one scene today.... our tandem sitting on the trail. I had to stop long enough for at least one shot. The trail is gorgeous, can't wait till the leaves turn colors and I can go back and shoot it again.

A pretty little dahalia from my garden. We had a very cool morning but I was delighted that it did not frost. I still have a few tomatoes producing in my garden, along with squash, okra, hot pepper, and bell pepper. I did not want the frost to kill them.

I went for a walk today and took my camera. My favorite shot was just outside my door, a geranium blossom. I had a nice walk, even though little rain showers chased me. I took cover once under a picnic shelter and the 2nd time it decided to shower hard, I was close enough to just run the rest of the way to the house to avoid my camera getting wet.

I keep noticing how delicate and beautiful the geranium buds are. I decided to have a go at shooting them with my macro lens today. This one was the tiniest of all. A little bity thing.... probably half as big as a green pea. I love all the detail I can see in it. It proved to be somewhat of a trial to shoot it outside. Here in Michigan there is always a breeze, so I had to be patient and wait for the moment when I thought the wind was the gentlest.

This is one of my favorite parts of having a garden. We always have more than we need and I love putting a little sign out next to the road and loading my little makeshift table with veges for others to enjoy.

These tiny little yellow pear tomatoes are heirloom tomatoes also. I love planting them in my garden. I often use them in salads or just eat them right off the vine :) Yum! Yum!

These are heirloom beans, Case Knife Beans. They have produced wonderfully this year. I have had the seed for these for over 20 years. I haven't found a bean I like better. I always can this kind. They are big beautiful beans.
