A sweet little guy approached me and excitedly shared his treasure with me. He gently held the little turtle in front of him for me to take it's picture, as he beamed with pride at his find. When I reviewed this picture I thought how well it tells the story of a little boy. Those little dirty fingernails tell of all the things he has experienced today.... like... dirt, mud, putting worms on a fishing pole, picking up rocks, throwing sticks, catching a turtle, learning about nature in such a natural way and just enjoying life in general. This takes me on a stroll down memory lane. Happy, joyful, thoughts of the two little boys I raised flood through my mind and I fondly remember all the fun they had exploring and enjoying nature. Those little boys are long gone now leaving only memories and fine young men standing in their places, but what a blessing they have been and continue to be to my life :)
Jo Ann, I love the photo, and you sharing your thoughts and memories! I too, miss my little boy, but I sure enjoy the man he has grown into as well!
ReplyDeletethat is a slice of life, isn't it? :) these are the kinds of things I love to document in my own life.
ReplyDeleteLive the little blue ink tattoos on his hand. And the disgruntled look on the turtle's face. We don't have many turtles around here, but if we did, my boy would be all over catching turtles!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post!
ReplyDeleteI have two sons of my own, so I got a lump in my throat reading your lovely reminiscence. Time just goes too fast! On another note, my sister-in-law just sent me a picture of a turtle laying eggs and burying them in her backyard. Two turtle stories in one day!
ReplyDeleteLove those little turtles. Brings me back to my kids childhood and mine too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reflection on my memories :)
Best regards from France,
